MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - To strengthen its commitment to environmental sustainability and foster student connections, Deakin University has relaunched its carpool program in partnership with Global Carpooling and On-Demand Transport technology provider, Liftango.
Liftango’s commitment to sustainability includes offsetting 100% of carbon emissions from every carpool trip, which is being pioneered by their Climate-Positive Carpool Service.
This project was initially launched prior to the Covid 19 pandemic. However, restrictions placed on campus attendance, as part of safety protocols, resulted in decreased human and vehicular traffic on campus, rendering it ineffectual in that period.
With restrictions being eased, university authorities anticipate an upsurge in attendance levels. They are facilitating it with the re-introduction of this shared transport solution that will be implemented across Deakin University’s campuses in Melbourne Burwood, Geelong Waurn Ponds, Geelong Waterfront, and Warrnambool.
Given how technologically advanced today's college students are, Liftango's Climate-Positive Carpool technology is the ideal option for implementing this initiative.
The platform is integrated with modern features for convenience and faster matching for students and offers an operational dashboard for easier and more effective tracking and management by University staff.

To encourage patronage of this service across campuses, Deakin University is offering a free parking incentive - a strategy to ease accessibility and bolster the initiative's success.
Deakin University joins the growing list of climate-positive carpool partners currently serviced by Liftango. The list includes institutions like Unilever, Qantas, the University of British Columbia and the University of Warwick.
